Copyright Act — Article 33-2 (Reproduction for the hearing impaired)

저작권법 제33조의2

(1) Any person may convert published works into Korean sign language under subparagraph 1 of Article 3 of the Korean Sign Language Act for the persons with hearing disabilities, etc., and may reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, or publicly transmit such Korean sign language. <Amended on Feb. 3, 2016, Aug. 8, 2023>

(2) Facilities designated by Presidential Decree (including the head of such facilities) that aim to promote the welfare of the persons with hearing disabilities may convert voice and sound, etc. contained in non-profit works published to the extent necessary for the use of the persons with hearing disabilities, etc. into alternative materials that can be recognized by the persons with hearing disabilities, etc. and reproduce, distribute, perform, or publicly transmit them. <Amended on Aug. 8, 2023>

(3) Persons with hearing disabilities, etc. and their guardians may convert voice and sound, etc. contained in published works, etc. for the personal use of persons with hearing disabilities, etc. into alternative materials that can be recognized by persons with hearing disabilities, etc. and reproduce them, if they legitimately access the published works, etc. <Added on Aug. 8, 2023>

(4) The scope of persons with hearing disabilities, etc. under paragraphs (1) through (3) and alternative materials referred to in paragraphs (2) and (3) shall be prescribed by Presidential Decree. <Amended on Aug. 8, 2023>[This Article Added on Jul. 16, 2013]
