Copyright Act — Article 33 (Reproduction for the visually impaired)

저작권법 제33조

(1) Any person may reproduce and distribute a published work by converting it into Braille in accordance with Article 3 of the Braille Act for the persons with visual disabilities and persons with reading disabilities, who are prescribed by Presidential Decree (hereinafter referred to as "persons with visual disabilities, etc."). <Amended on Aug. 8, 2023>

(2) Facilities designated by Presidential Decree (including the head of such facilities) that aim to promote the welfare of the persons with visual disabilities, etc. may convert visual representations such as text and images contained in non-profit works published for the use of the persons with visual disabilities, etc. and may reproduce, distribute, perform, or publicly transmit them into alternative materials that can be recognized by persons with visual disabilities, etc. <Amended on Mar. 25, 2009, May 18, 2021, Aug. 8, 2023>

(3) Persons with visual disabilities, etc. and their guardians (including assistants; hereafter the same shall apply in this Article and Article 33-2) may convert visual representations such as texts and images contained in the published works, etc. into alternative materials that can be recognized by persons with visual disabilities, etc. and reproduce them, for the personal use of persons with visual disabilities, etc. if they legitimately access the published works, etc. <Added on Aug. 8, 2023>

(4) The scope of alternative materials referred to in paragraphs (2) and (3) shall be prescribed by Presidential Decree. <Amended on Aug. 8, 2023>[Title Amended on Aug. 8, 2023]
