Road Traffic Act — Article 145 (Provision of traffic information)

도로교통법 제145조

(1) The Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency shall collect and analyze information necessary to ensure a safe and smooth flow of traffic and promptly provide the public with the results thereof. <Amended on Jan. 17, 2008; Mar. 19, 2024>

(2) The Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency may establish and operate a traffic information center to collect, analyze, and provide traffic information under paragraph (1), and may designate a dedicated institution to ensure efficient operation of the traffic information center. <Added on Mar. 19, 2024>

(3) If a person designated pursuant to paragraph (2) falls under any of the following subparagraphs, the Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency may revoke the designation of the dedicated institution or suspend all or part of its business operations for a specified period not exceeding six months; provided, in cases falling under subparagraph 1, the designation shall be revoked: <Added on Mar. 19, 2024>

1. If it has been designated by fraud or other improper means;

2. If the institution no longer meets the criteria for designation under paragraph (4).

(4) Matters necessary for the establishment and operation of a traffic information center, the designation and operation of a dedicated institution under paragraph (2), the revocation of designation and the suspension of business operations, etc. under paragraph (3) shall be prescribed by Presidential Decree. <Added on Mar. 19, 2024>
