Road Traffic Act — Article 12-4 (Fact-finding surveys on protection areas)

(1) A Mayor, etc. shall conduct fact-finding surveys of the traffic environment, such as the current status of traffic accidents that occur in protection areas for children under Article 12 and protection areas for senior citizens or persons with disabilities under Article 12-2 at least once a year, and shall reflect the results thereof in the designation, revocation of designation, and management of such protection areas.

(2) Matters necessary for the subjects, methods, etc. of a fact-finding survey under paragraph (1) shall be prescribed by Joint Ministerial Decree of Education, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

(3) The Mayor, etc. may entrust part of the fact-finding surveys under paragraph (1) to the Korea Road Traffic Authority under the Korea Road Traffic Authority Act (hereinafter referred to as the "Korea Road Traffic Authority") or a specialized traffic-related institution, as prescribed by Presidential Decree. <Amended on Jan. 30, 2024>[This Article Wholly Inserted on Apr. 18, 2023]
