(1) When pedestrians (including a rider of a bicycle, etc. who gets off a bicycle, etc. and walks or carries the bicycle, etc. pursuant to Article 13-2 (6)) are passing along a crosswalk or are about to do so, the driver of any motor vehicle or tram shall temporarily stop in front of the crosswalk (if a stop line is marked on the crosswalk, referring to the stop line) so as not to impede their passage or endanger them. <Amended on Mar. 27, 2018; Jun. 9, 2020; Jan. 11, 2022>
(2) No driver of any motor vehicle or tram shall impede the traffic of pedestrians crossing the road according to the signal apparatus or the signals or instructions given by police officials, etc. where the driver intends to make a left- or right-hand turn at the intersection where traffic is controlled. <Amended on Mar. 27, 2018>
(3) No driver of any motor vehicle shall impede the traffic of pedestrians crossing the intersection or the road in the vicinity of the intersection where traffic is not controlled.
(4) The driver of any motor vehicle shall drive the motor vehicle slowly while maintaining a safe distance where pedestrians are passing through a safety zone that is set up on the road and his or her motor vehicle passes by pedestrians on a narrow road on which the lane for motor vehicles is not drawn.
(5) When pedestrians are crossing the road on which a crosswalk is not opened pursuant to Article 10 (3), the driver of any motor vehicle or tram shall temporarily stop the motor vehicle or tram while maintaining a safe distance in order for pedestrians to safely cross the road. <Amended on Mar. 27, 2018>
(6) When any motor vehicle passes a pedestrian in any of the following places, the driver of the motor vehicle shall drive slowly while keeping a safe distance from pedestrians and when it hinders their passage, it shall move slowly or temporarily stop to ensure their safe passage: <Amended on Jan. 11, 2022>
1. Roads with no median lane, which separates sidewalks from roadways;
2. Pedestrian priority roads.
3. Places other than roads.
(7) The driver of any motor vehicle or tram shall temporarily stop at a crosswalk, on which signal apparatus is not installed (referring to the stop line, where a stop line is installed) within a protection area for children under Article 12 (1), regardless of whether pedestrians are crossing the road. <Added on Jan. 11, 2022>[This Article Wholly Amended on Jun. 8, 2011]
