(1) A person who inflicts bodily injury upon another, thereby endangering one’s life, shall be punished by imprisonment with labor for at least one year up to ten years.
(2) The preceding paragraph shall apply to a person who, in consequence of injuring another, causes one to be crippled or incurably or hopelessly diseased.
(3) If a person commits any of the crimes of the preceding two paragraphs against any of his or her lineal ascendants or any of lineal ascendants of his or her spouse, the person shall be punished by imprisonment with labor for at least two years up to 15 years. <Amended on Jan. 6, 2016>
