A person who makes preparations or conspires with intent to commit the crimes of Articles 164 (1), 165, 166 (1), 172 (1), 172-2 (1), 173 (1) and (2), shall be punished by imprisonment with labor for not more than five years: Provided, That when he or she denounces himself or herself before the commission of such crimes as intended, the punishment shall be mitigated or remitted. <Amended on Dec. 29, 1995>
