(1) If a surety who has become such at the request of the principal obligor has, without negligence on his or her part, caused the principal obligation to be extinguished by performance or at his or her own expense, such surety shall have a right to be indemnified by the principal obligor.
(2) Article 425(2) shall apply mutatis mutandis to the cases mentioned in the preceding paragraph.
