In order to ensure the safe protection and sound use, etc. of location information, the Korea Media and Communications Commission shall seek measures including the following, after consultation with the heads of relevant central administrative agencies: <Amended on Feb. 29, 2008; Dec. 24, 2018; Oct. 1, 2025>
1. The basic policy direction for protecting and using location information;
2. Matters regarding the protection of location information (including matters relating to protection of location information of a child under the age of 14 who may not have a clear understanding of the risks and consequences arising from the processing of location information, the rights of a subject of personal location information, and other relevant issues);
3. Matters regarding the use of location information for public purposes;
4. Matters regarding the development and standardization of technology related to location information business and location-based service business;
5. Matters regarding the enhancement of safety and reliability of location information business and location-based service business;
6. Matters regarding the improvement and evaluation of the quality of location information business and location-based service business;
7. Other matters necessary for the protection and use of location information.
